AECC plunge into darkness for Earth Hour
Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) will be diming the lights this weekend to support a global climate change demonstration. The World Wide Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour 2010, takes places on Saturday 27th March from 8.30pm - 9.30pm and is aiming to have over one billion people around the world switching off their lights for an hour.
More than 120 countries have confirmed they will take part in Earth Hour as well as a variety of worldwide landmarks including the Las Vegas Strip, Sydney Opera House, Big Ben and Table Mountain.
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director says, “AECC are proud to be part of such an important initiative, climate change is a global issue that affects everyone. We are delighted to be able to help bring this issue to the forefront and hope many other business as well as individuals will join this important cause.”
The lights-out initiative, which started in Sydney in 2007, is encouraging businesses, schools, individuals and cities around the world to switch off their lights for one hour to send a strong message to world leaders that climate change demands urgent action.
