Final Year Students benefit from visit to Yorkshire Event Centre
Final year Event Management students from Leeds Metropolitan University’s Centre for Events Management visited the Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC) at the start of the autumn semester to assist them with their next event planning module.
The students were given a tour of Halls 1 and 2 covering a total of 5372m2 of indoor event space by Venue Manager, Richard Moorhouse, who added “It was a pleasure to show the students around the YEC and give them an insight in to planning large events. I hope they gained valuable knowledge which will help them with their studies. Hopefully one or two of the students will return with real events in the future...”
Senior Lecturer Simon Bell added “With a professional and vocational course it's very important to make the learning experiences as genuine as possible and collaborate with events industry employers. Students are inspired after trips like this and are certainly more creative in the work they produce. We very much appreciate the time and effort that the Yorkshire Event Centre Management put into assisting us with venue visits for the students.”
Final year BA (Hons) Events Management Student Katie Badger commented “Visiting the YEC was a great way to start a module, it was so useful to see behind the scenes and have chance to speak directly to the Yorkshire Event Centre managers, who were very helpful in answering all our questions and showing us round.”
The Yorkshire Event Centre is a unique UK event venue, situated in the picturesque spa town of Harrogate. With 2 main Exhibition Halls, 250 acres of outdoor space and a purpose built conference and banqueting suite the Yorkshire Event Centre offers a variety of versatile event spaces suitable for hosting a wide range of events.
Based on the Great Yorkshire Showground, the Yorkshire Event Centre Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. The profits from YEC go to fund the work of the charity which actively supports agriculture, the environment and rural initiatives within the Yorkshire region.
