The Nutcracker Ice Ballet

The wonderful story of the Nutcracker  will be brought to life on ice this December at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

The story, by Hoffmann with the music of Tchaikovsky, centres around the main character, Mary, who gets a nutcracker doll from her godfather for Christmas.  After receiving the gift, the little girl falls asleep, and dreams of a frightening battle on Christmas Eve.  The soldiers, led by the Nutcracker, fight against the mouse king and his army.  After the victory the wood doll turns into a prince and goes on a magical journey with Mary.

This enchanting show, suitable for all the family, is made up of an international cast of 30 members, composed of both children and adults. The action of the story and the music is a true reflection of the original spirit of the work, which belongs to a category of ice ballet, which resembles classic ballet, with beautiful costumes and spectacular sets.

Performances take place from Thursday 16th December to Thursday 23rd December and tickets can be purchased by calling 0845 389 3223 or via e-mail at tic@harrogate.gov.uk.
