AECC only Scottish finalist at International Congress Awards
Last night representatives from Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s (AECC) attended the 2010 International Association of Congress Centres’ (AIPC) ‘Apex Award’ in Liverpool as a finalist. The prestigious awards took place at the AIPC Annual Conference and were one of the most hotly contested ever. Twenty seven finalists competed for the title of “World’s Best Congress Centre", an increase of 30% from the previous awards in 2008.
The award was finally won by the Valencia Conference Centre (VCC) however AECC were delighted to have been the only Scottish venue in the final and one of only three British venues in the top 27.
Brian Horsburgh Managing Director of AECC, who attended the event, said, “These awards differ from many others as they are not decided by an ‘Awards committee’. The finalists are decided by feedback from local, national and international clients from each venue. To be a finalist at these International Awards means so much to us as our clients obviously value our relationship and dedication to service and excellence.”
The AIPC Apex Award is given bi-annually on the basis of a comprehensive performance and customer satisfaction analysis. The evaluations are based entirely on client ratings of each participating venue. These criteria include a range of factors including congress facilities, project management, catering and technical capabilities, and result in a collective score for the best overall performer.
Brian concluded, “AECC are delighted to be finalists in both this award and last month’s UK’s Association of Event Organisers (AEO) Excellence Awards in our 25th year in business. To mark this special occasion, AECC are inviting clients, suppliers, supporters and partners to come together to join us to celebrate at what is expected to be Aberdeen’s largest charity dinner dance this year.” The 25th Anniversary Birthday Party will take place on Saturday 25th September 2010 in the Press and Journal Arena and aims to raise £25,000 for local charity CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North).
