UK press crowned SECC Champions

The Scottish and National press are the latest to receive the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre’s (SECC) sought after Champion Award.

Recognising the significant contribution the UK press has made in the 25 year history of the SECC, the presentation was made to Clive Marshall, Group Chief Executive of the Press Association.

The award highlights the part played by the UK press, in communicating the SECC’s visitor experience to the general public, and comes as part of the SECC’s 25th Anniversary Year celebrations. Throughout 2010 the SECC will be recognising 25 organisations and individuals, who have had a positive impact on the business over quarter of a century. Previous recipients have so far included Trees for Life, Visit Scotland and Rod Stewart.

Presenting the award, the SECC’s Chief Executive Officer, John Sharkey commented: “Throughout the SECC’s 25 year history, the UK press has had an important role to play in our success. The press and the wider media are crucial to communicating our latest news, business wins and concert reviews, all of which is invaluable to the SECC.

“We have developed a strong working relationship with the press over the last 25 years and we look forward to their continued support over the next 25 years and beyond.”

Clive Marshall added: “I am honoured to receive this great accolade on behalf of the UK press. We are delighted that we have been recognised as a contributor the success of one of Scotland’s most renowned venues. We wish them continued success for the future.”
