Bouncy Castle Guide update on wind tests20 Mar 2019
The HSE has updated its website guidance for those using inflatable equipment such as bouncy castles with an emphasis on how users should monitor wind speed. The guidance stresses the need for declarations of compliance from either Amusement Device Inspection Procedures (ADIPS) or the Pertexa Inflatable Play Accreditation (PIPA). The refreshed guide says that no inflatables should be used outside in winds above 24 mph. This equates to about 21 knots or Level 6 ‘Strong Breeze’ on the Beaufort wind scale which is usually the lowest action level requiring the closing of doors on tented structures.
In 2018 the HSE reissued Fairgrounds and amusement parks: Guidance on safe practice HSG175.
