Jail Sentences for Bouncy Castle Fatality
06 Aug 2018Last month reported on two fairground workers who were found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence after a bouncy castle blew away in high winds with a seven-year-old girl still inside. Summer Grant died when the fairground castle she was playing in was picked up by strong winds and sent “cartwheeling” 300 metres down a hill at an Easter fair in Harlow, Essex, on 26 March 2016. The two were found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter and following a sentencing hearing sentenced to three years jail time. They were also sentenced to 12 months in prison for failing to discharge a duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act, to run concurrently.
