23 Mar 2017

The Association of Event Venues (AEV) has welcomed the news that the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Centre has agreed to formally adopt the eGuide, the common regulative policy for major UK event venues that is compiled and published by the AEV. The QEII centre’s adoption of the eGuide brings the total number of UK venues using the eGuide to 19.

The eGuide is a comprehensive document containing detailed guidance for achieving common standards of health, safety and operational planning, management and on-site conduct, aimed at consolidating venue rules across the UK, irrespective of size and location.

Anna Clover, The QEII Centre’s director of venue operations & customer experience, explained the venue's decision to adopt the eGuide, saying, “The eGuide distills an enormous amount of knowledge and experience into a structured guide to venue operations, and the benefits to the industry of having a consistent set of regulations and guidance are significant. By adopting the eGuide, the Queen Elizabeth II Centre is joining the ranks of major venues in the UK that unambiguously promote safe, sustainable, and compliant working practices and conditions.”

Rachel Parker, AEV director, welcomed the announcement from the QEII Centre, commenting “The Queen Elizabeth II Centre is the largest dedicated conference space in central London, and its decision to adopt the eGuide is very positive news. Each endorsement of the eGuide underlines its authoritative status, and helps UK venues to drive higher standards and greater consistency across the event and exhibition industry.”
