Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is holding its 6th Connect Conference at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Manchester, Friday 26th October with support from the Association of Event Venues (AEV) and AEV members. The event exists to bring together events management students with event industry professionals over a relaxing lunch, to give students the opportunity to learn from professionals how to get into their chosen genre of events and listen to their words of advice on how to help them stand out from the crowd.

Lucy Pittaway, senior lecturer in Events Management & Level 6 year manager at MMU welcomed the AEV’s support, saying, “It’s great news that the AEV have promoted this event to its members, and we are looking forward to welcoming several AEV members to the conference this month. Not only is this a great way for students to meet industry professionals and get advice, it provides the industry with some insight into who wants to be a part of it in the future.”

Alden Arnold, AEV project manager, explained why the AEV was keen to support the conference, “The nurturing and retention of young talent is a major focus of the industry at the moment, and the Connect Conference is a perfect example of industry and academia working in partnership to help the next generation of event professionals develop their potential and flourish in their careers. We didn't hesitate in recommending the Connect Conference to our members."

The lunch takes place between 12:15 – 14:00. You will be seated with one other professional on your table and students will move around the room talking to as many of the professionals as possible. This event has kindly been sponsored by the Radisson Blu Edwardian and has grown year on year due to its success.

We do hope you (or a nominated colleague) can join MMU on this worthwhile project, if you can, please sign up at the following link, this is a free event for you to attend.
