A future perspective
Anastasia’s view:
The conference reinforced my interest in the events industry. I am determined to apply the knowledge and insights gained to shape my future career. Learning how to navigate audience preferences, understanding the intricacies of event organisation and maintaining a calm and respectful demeanour were invaluable lessons.
Hearing from people of my generation who emphasised the normalcy of changing career paths, especially in your mid-20s, resonated with me deeply. It provided reassurance and inspiration as I navigate a similar journey.
Annouk’s observations:
The “How Liverpool delivered the Eurovision Song Contest” session amazed me. They shared the stages of organising such an important event and undoubtedly did a great job, giving us a lot to learn from. I enjoyed the GenZ session delivering compelling insights on the future of the events industry. I found their advice to discover more fields in the events industry before settling on a specific one valuable. I also found it noteworthy that they addressed the importance of mental health. It was a pleasure to listen to these three women talk about their careers and emphasise the importance of expressing themselves and sharing their opinions.
Anna’s takeaways:
The speakers were fascinating, captivating and throughout awe-inspiring and I left the QEII with much food for thought. What kind of change agent am I? I theoretically belong to GenZ, but do I identify with the characteristics? There are so many key take aways but my top four are:
- Continuous improvement – find and encourage that 1% that makes a difference in yourself and your team (and makes the boat go faster – Ben Hunt-Davis)
- Technologies drive change – AI enhanced technologies are already here, and I cannot wait for what’s to come.
- Every problem has a solution, be boldly you, enhance the individuality and diversity.
- Try everything and grow as a person! You don’t need it all sorted out by 25!!!
The benefits of attending events and gaining work experience whilst studying are evident in the three student’s accounts, the AEV provides such a platform via the Academic Associate membership.
