Harrogate Convention Centre (HCC), located in the charming Victorian Spa town of Harrogate, is one of the UK’s premier event venues. Hosting a variety of events such as conferences, exhibitions, and entertainment, the centre is a world-class and adaptable venue.
The Role
Traffic is a vital part of events at HCC and the Traffic and Logistics Manager will lead and be responsible for the whole traffic operation of the venue.
- Work with clients to develop a traffic management plan in the planning stage that is fit for their event and the venue.
- Manage the on-the-ground delivery of traffic management for all events, working closely with all stakeholders.
- Compete detailed post-event reporting with insights and analytics.
- Develop processes and procedures to be followed by all parties.
- Manage the venue Online Traffic Booking System.
- Manage contracts with any suppliers and third-parties.
- Build and lead a team of traffic personnel directly employed by the venue and supplied by support contractors.
- Ensure all commercial aspects are considered and controlled.
- Identify revenue streams and opportunities.
- Be the venue point of contact to liaise with wider North Yorkshire Council traffic and works departments, ensuring the venue is aware of all works surrounding and impact is minimal.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and working practices.
- Engage with other venues and key groups frequently.
- Work as part of the Operations Leadership team.
What You Will Bring
- At least 5 years experience in a similar role within the event industry, specifically exhibitions and conferences.
- A through working knowledge of traffic regulations – such as chapter 8. Ideally you will hold a CSAS qualification or be willing to obtain immediately.
- You will have an extensive knowledge of health and safety and keep up to date with developing working practices.
- You will be qualified to IOSH Managing Safely level and be willing to advance this to NEBOSH General Certificate level.
- A positive can-do attitude.
- Knowledge of security and access control.
- Experience working in a high pressure environment with a calm, solutions focused approach.
- A hands-on management style, developing and leading teams of up to 15 staff.
- Knowledge and experience of contract preparation, negotiation and management.

Please note: This role requires regular evening and weekend work.
