Welsh venues join AEV

The International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) and sister venue The Celtic Manor Resort have signed up to become full members of the Association of Event Venues (AEV), a leading trade body which represents venues of all sizes and types both in the UK and internationally.

An £83.7m joint venture between Celtic Manor and Welsh Government, when it opens next year ICC Wales will accommodate 5,000 delegates and includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free

main hall, a 1,500-seated auditorium, 12 flexible meeting rooms, a double-height glass atrium and a 2,500sqm outdoor plaza.

ICC Wales has already secured contracts with several major events including Alzheimer's 2020 and ACT (Association of Corporate Treasurers).

Host venue for the 2014 NATO Summit, The Celtic Manor Resort has been a leading conference destination since opening in 1999 and has been voted the Best UK Hotel at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards for seven of the last eight years.

Ian Edwards, Chief Executive of ICC Wales and Celtic Manor Resort, said: “Becoming members of a major trade association such as AEV is an important step for us as we look towards the launch of ICC Wales in June next year. As the only completely new venue to open in 2019, it is vital that we establish our voice in the industry and form part of the discussion. We are also looking forward to connecting both of our venues with our peers, learning and sharing best practice for the benefit of the wider industry.â€'
