15 Weeks to AEV Conference 2019!

Starting this week, we begin the countdown to AEV Conference 2019, with a series of weekly #throwbackthursday messages, each one highlighting a signature event or moment for 15 of our member venues from 2004.

Looking back at 2004, it seems like a world away now - a world with no Twitter, no Facebook, not even a single iPhone! But it was the year that UK venues joined together to form the Association of Event Venues (AEV).

Since then, our growing association has supported and enabled venues to collaborate and share best practice, and bring about industry change through initiatives like the eGuide. We have built a vibrant community of working groups that spans the three associations (AEO and ESSA), and launched crucial research initiatives to help our member venues such as the Size And Scale Index of Events (SASIE) and Salary Surveys.

More recently we've launched the AEV annual conference, which has grown in scope and stature year on year. This year, with the future seemingly arriving at a greater speed than ever before, our theme is "New Horizons," and we'll be focusing on the shape of things to come, and to what extent we can influence them.

AEV Conference is a fantastic opportunity to discover how other venues are preparing for the future, share insight with fellow venue professionals, and enjoy some convivial networking time with colleagues and peers from all over the UK.
