AEV adds new safeguarding section to the eGuide 2026 edition
The Association of Event Venues (AEV) has, today, published a new section of the eGuide addressing safeguarding in the events world.
Michelle Baldwin, head of events, NEC and chair of the eGuide working group, commented, “It’s great to include the new safeguarding section within the e-Guide. It is essential that we all use this to guarantee we are putting safety and best practice at the heart of all our events. It creates a common ground and principles we can all actively adopt to create safer spaces.”
The eGuide is specific to the event industry and a vital resource for UK venue, organiser, exhibitor and supplier companies. Updated annually, the new section was created following member requests in consultation with AEV’s new safeguarding partner X2 Consult, a specialist safeguarding and child protection consultancy.
Thomas Stead, managing director and safeguarding consultant, X2 Consult said, “It has been a privilege to work with the AEV in developing the new safeguarding section, helping provide practical guidance for venues across the UK. This update represents an important step in strengthening safeguarding awareness and ensuring that event environments remain safe and inclusive for children, young people and vulnerable individuals.”
Alden Arnold, head of commercial and projects, AEV, added, “The eGuide is constantly reviewed, monitored and updated. Whilst updates are usually issued annually, following discussions with our eGuide user group, it was apparent there was a gap in provision of safeguarding information – hence the new section. Thank you to our members and our sister association members for their input and time.”
The eGuide is available via the AEV website, offering a version with highlighted changes and the option to download six sections independently for added convenience.
