ICC Wales & Celtic Manor joins AEV
We welcome ICC Wales and its sister venue, The Celtic Manor Resort, as full members to the Association, in advance of ICC Wales opening in 2019. ICC Wales is a £83.7m joint venture between Celtic Manor and the Welsh Government, and when it opens next year it will be able to accommodate 5,000 delegates throughout the complex.
The Celtic Manor Resort has been a leading conference destination since opening in 1999 and famously hosted the 2014 NATO summit. Ian Edwards, Chief Executive of ICC Wales and Celtic Manor Resort, said: “Becoming members of a major trade association such as AEV is an important step for us as we look towards the launch of ICC Wales in June next year. It is vital that we establish our voice in the industry and form part of the discussion. We are also looking forward to connecting both of our venues with our peers, learning and sharing best practice for the benefit of the wider industry.”
Rachel Parker, AEV director, said, “We're very excited to count ICC Wales and The Celtic Manor Resort amongst our association members. As yet we are unaware of any other purpose-built event venue to open in the UK in 2019, therefore ICC Wales represents a massive vote of confidence in the venue sector. I look forward to seeing the ICC Wales and Celtic Manor Resort teams engage with our association bodies, contributing their expertise and specific experiences to our working groups.”
