ESSA Conf 18

Two Cross Association Working Group meetings took place during ESSA's Annual Conference at Stadium MK on 29th November.

Given their working group presence, representatives from across AEV and AEO were also able to attend ESSA's Conference.

Individuals from across the Electrics Technical and Technology working groups welcome the opportunity to attend the Conference and broke into their meetings during the late morning.

The Cross Association Technology Working Group welcomed a guest speaker from Ucopia who helped attendees explore the future of Wi-Fi usage, purpose and capabilities. Discussions then followed given the results from a recent venue connectivity survey, a suggestion regarding our salary surveys and a think tank round table regarding the group's direction for 2019. The group have agreed to TWO additional meeting in the year.

A venue video touring the construction progress of the new TECA venue was shown (subsequently posted on our YouTube channel) to the group with interest.

The meeting closed with thanks to Amir for a successful first meeting as Chair and Emma's as vice.

The adjacent meeting room housed the Electrics Technical Cross Association Working Group, chaired on this occasion by AEV director Rachel Parker.

An exercise split the attendees into two think tank teams where the group's purpose was explored with the aim of agreeing direction for 2019.

Discussions then filtered across subjects covering rigging, competency requirements, battering powered lighting and methods of communicating during event set up.

The meeting closed thanking Rachel for stepping in as Chair and to all those that attended.

Both groups were able to re-join the ESSA Conference for lunch and the afternoon sessions. Thank you to ESSA for inviting both groups to the conference and Stadium MK for hosting and their hospitality.

With 2019's schedules looking their busiest yet, we would like to thank the chairs and vice chairs for their leadership and to all those that have attended with enthusiasm throughout the past year.
