Richard has spent his career working in the Events and Hospitality industry, covering a diverse portfolio of experience from hotel operations and racecourse hospitality to AV production and venue management.

Before studying Hospitality Management, Richard began working in hotels, moving into racecourse hospitality, followed by a strategic role as Business Development Manager for a stage, sound and AV company. He later served as Business Manager at an events and community centre in Hull, overseeing all operations and community engagement.

In 2011, Richard joined the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, (YAS), as Venue Manager for the Great Yorkshire Events Centre. Over the next 12 years, he helped shape the venue’s growth and reputation, culminating in promotion to Events Director in October 2023. In this board-level role, Richard leads all event operations for YAS’s commercial arm, including the management of the Harrogate Caravan Park and oversight of health & safety across the organisation.

He has played a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure projects, including the multi-million-pound refurbishment of Hall 1 and a comprehensive rebrand across the business portfolio. His work continues to focus on strategic development, operational excellence and creating extraordinary events across the venues for clients and visitors alike.
